Vijayawada: Musunuru tahsildar, D Vanajakshi, who was allegedly beaten up by the supporters of Telugu Desam MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar recently in the sand quarrying dispute, received a threat letter on Monday. She lodged a complaint with the local police the same day evening following which the police started an inquiry.

She said she was not afraid of such threats and would face the challenge and expected the government to take care of her. Vanajakshi was in the news in July following her attempt to prevent illegal quarrying of sand from Tammileru rivulet located on the borders of Krishna and West Godavari districts. The supporters of the TDP legislator assaulted her in his presence.

The protest of revenue association was withdrawn the next day following an assurance from the Chief Minister. As of now, the tahsidlar received an anonymous letter asking her to leave Musunur mandal, which threatened that failing may result in her elimination. The letter also cautioned her against interfering with the sand quarrying in Tammileru rivulet.

“I briefed the Chief Secretary and other officials. The administration is taking steps to inquire the credibility of the letter,” said Bopparaju Venkates-warlu, secretary of revenue services association, while speaking to The Hans India.
