Visakhapatnam: Telangana State police refused to accept notices from the Andhra Pradesh police with regard to a kidnap in Bhubaneswar, in which seven persons, including close associates of Telangana Minister K Taraka Rama Rao, were involved.

It may be recalled that Bhubaneswar-based infrastructure firm ARSS Ltd chief Subhash Agarwal and his cousin Shankar were rescued from Visakhapatnam hours after they were kidnapped from the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on February 16, 2013.

Odisha police alerted Vizag police who intercepted the car at Pendurthy. The car also tried to run over sub-inspector K Suresh. Kidnappers were arrested and taken to Bhubaneswar. After getting bail, they returned to Hyderabad and never went back for hearing. Odisha police issued notices and when there was no reply, they forwarded the notices to Vizag police.

A Task Force team headed by CI Illyas Mohammed reached Hyderabad to service notices to the accused through the police but Telangana police did not respond. “I approached Karimnagar SP with an application today for acceptance of court notice, but there has been no response,’’ the CI told this correspondent on Thursday.

Financial disputes over business are said to have led to the abduction. Subhash and his cousin Shankar were returning from Kolathia guesthouse after a meeting of the Marwari Samaj when they were kidnapped at gun-point in Bhubaneswar. A Hyderabad-based promoter S Srinivas Rao is alleged to be the mastermind behind the kidnapping, police sources said.

He is one of the abductors and is currently absconding. According to preliminary investigation, the Hyderabad-based firm is a sub-contractor for ARSS Ltd and the two were embroiled in a multi-crore payment in a project over which arbitration is currently underway.
