Buddhist plaques found. Buddhist plaques dating to third centuary AD have been found while digging in the premises of 250 year old Amareshwari Temple, at Amaravati, on Monday.

Buddhist plaques dating to third centuary AD have been found while digging in the premises of 250 year old Amareshwari Temple, at Amaravati, on Monday.

The people engaged in temple renovation works dislodged the temple tower and in the process found the rare plaques of Buddhist era, according to Ramnath, spokesman of Hindu Rakshana Samithi.

The plaques were handed over to Archeological Museum in-charge N Venkateswara Rao, which have been sent to the museum in Guntur.
