Back-A-thon a huge success. Guntur witnessed 500 of its residents from varied walks of life including schools and other organisations coming together in a collaborative effort to direct the society’s attention to the precarious conditions of children-at-risk who live in shelter, on Sunday at the ‘Back-a-thon’ organised by ‘Make A Difference’ (MAD).

The national event, which is being held in 23 cities, came to Guntur for the fourth year at Devaraj Urs Road. Though MAD has been working on empowering children through its programmess like ‘Ed Support’, ‘Discover’ and ‘Propel’, the event proved a prerequisite for the rehabilitation in the society, which is the ecosystem a child lives in, to get more involved in the cause.

More of a social gathering than a sporting event, the backward walk signified an intent to stand in solidarity with the children-at-risk who have been relegated to a backward position in the society.
