Now, it appears that Venkaiah Naidu has taken a U-turn on the issue by saying there was no need for special status to the state. The BJP leader today laid a a foundation stone at Podalakuru in Nellore district.

Speaking at the meeting, he hinted that his priority was to get special projects for the state, but not special status. The Union Minister said that the states which have been granted special status are now struggling to get new projects.
