The tastes of moviegoers are changing with the time. Unlike in the past where they used to watch long movies, they are now opting for movies which have short and crisp runtime. Anything above 150 minutes is being rejected fare and square by the audience.

Now, ‘Rudhramadevi’ which is going to release this Friday is of 158 minutes. This may turn as a bane if not narrated interestingly.

Recent movies like ‘I’, ‘Kick2’ and ‘Shivam’ became disasters due to excess runtime. Both the films were trimmed up to 20 minutes post the release, but that was of no use. Even a film like ‘Baahubali’ which was planned to be a single movie was later turned into 2 parts because of the long duration of the film. The first of ‘Baahubali’ was below 2 hours 30 minutes. All the makers are now being cautious about the runtime.

However runtime will not be a problem if the movie is engaging. Films like ‘Srimanthudu’ and ‘Kaththi’ which had a runtime of nearly 165 minutes became huge hits. Now the fate of ‘Rudhramadevi’ depends on what Gunasekhar had churned out and how he is going to serve it. Let us wait till October 9.
