Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government is making arrangements to bring samples of water and soil from all villages in 13 districts to Uddandarayunipalem, where a ceremony would be held on October 22 for the new capital.
The government instructed the village secretaries concerned to make arrangements to send the samples of one kilo soil and one litre of water from each village.

These samples would be on display at the venue during the foundation ceremony. The soil and water samples would cement the bondage of the people with their new capital, the officials claim.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu already in- structed Minister for Municipal Administration and the Urban Development Dr P Narayana to make arrangements to bring the water and soil from every village.

The exercise is likely to start on October 13 and would reach the venue two days ahead of the ceremony. This would also go with the proposed ‘Amaravati Sankalpa Jyothi’ that would be taken out from every mandal headquarters involving the peo- ple.

While the Jyothi would arrive at the open grounds opposite the Acharya Nagarjuna University where Chandrababu Naidu took oath as Chief Minister in 2014, the soil and water samples would go straight to the ceremony venue.

As per instructions, 16,000 kilos of soil and 16,000 litres of water from 16,000 villages are expected to be placed at the venue on October 22.

Government is also planning to bring water from all rivers, rivulets and streams in the State to make the event more sentimental.
Minister for Municipal Administration Dr Narayana hinted at utilising the water and soil samples in the construction of iconic twin towers, but a senior official observed that they would be used in the construction of heritage building in the core capital region.
