With a slogan to gift book on every occasion, the Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS) has come out to organize the 48thNational Book Week, through a book exhibition that was set up at their VBFS Research Library. District Joint Collector Gandham Chandrudu has formally inaugurated the book festival that will go on till November 20th.

Addressing the gathering here on Thursday, Gandham Chandrudu said that books are a great source of knowledge and promote skill. Books symbolize peace and wisdom. There are various kinds of books that cater to people of all classes and communities. Book reading should become a habit for the young generation, who should also know not only about the latest technology but about the struggles of eminent people, history and wonders around the globe. These activities will enhance the chances of attracting more students and youth towards literature, he opined.

VBFS president B Babji said that the expo is an attempt to reach out to public to spread awareness on book reading. It aims to increase the readership as well as draw new people to the book world. We are taking out this message to everybody that chose books to gift to friends, relatives and people on special occasions. A ten per cent discount is available on the entire range of books which were displayed at the expo. Former president of VBFS, R Ramaswamy, other publishers were present during the event.
