This marks the first phase of the hospital’s renovation programme whereupon every department will boast of state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities and full-fledged consultants, specialists and paramedical staff. The Minister hoped that the OPD would pave way for starting similar services in other ESIC Hospitals.

He elaborated on the new initiatives for making the ESI Scheme more vibrant across Telangana State.

Some of the recent measures taken by the hospital include online availability of Electronic Health Record of ESI Beneficiaries (Insured Persons and their family members), Abhiyan Indradhanush facilities and establishing cancer detection/treatment, cardiology treatment, dialysis facilities, which are likely to become effective by the end of the year.

The ESIC Model Hospital is a 200-bedded hospital that was taken over from the State ESI Scheme on August 1, 2002. Housed over 3,4870 sq mts, it cost Rs 195 crores. It provides secondary care treatment, all diagnostic facilities, accident and emergency facilities, operation theatre for general surgery, orthopaedic, obstetrics, gynecology, eye, ENT, immunisation and family welfare facilities to the insured persons and their beneficiaries. Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Transport Minister P Mahendar Reddy, Lok Sabha member Ch Malla Reddy, MLC N Ramachandra Rao, Uppal Legislator NVSS Prabhakar and Medical Commissioner, ESIC, Dr R K Kataria were also present on the occasion.
