Budapest Water Works to help Vijayawada Municipal Corporation
Lok Sabha member Kesineni Srinivas, who had successfully lobbied for the intervention of the prestigious Tata Trust to adopt and develop 264 villages to provide basic infrastructure has once again involved the globally-reputed Budapest Water Works (BWW) to help the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) in its water supply works.
Lok Sabha member Kesineni Srinivas, who had successfully lobbied for the intervention of the prestigious Tata Trust to adopt and develop 264 villages to provide basic infrastructure has once again involved the globally-reputed Budapest Water Works (BWW) to help the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) in its water supply works. A delegation of the BWW led by its chief operating officer, Geza Sornyei, visited the city and held deliberations with MLAs, Gadde Rama Mohan and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, city Mayor, Koneru Sridhar and deputy Mayor, Gogula Ramana Rao.
Speaking to media persons after the initial interactions, MP Srinivas said that the globally-reputed BWW had agreed to help VMC to streamline and improve drinking water supply in the city. The BWW’s support would be of great help in ensuring supply of 24x7 protected drinking water for the people in the city, he added. He asserted that the BWW with 130 years of service in Budapest and also its expertise support to other cities across the world would be of great help to the VMC in extending safe drinking water to every house in the city.
The VMC chief on Tuesday displayed presentations at his chamber with the team of officials from Hungary. Speaking on the occasion, Veerapandian said that special plans would be evolved in developing basic amenities in the city as it was part of the designated capital. Meanwhile, he also submitted a detailed report on the drinking water supply across the 59 divisions in the city and the canal beautification project taken on the three main canals to curb the open defecation.
Later, the VMC chief along with City Mayor Koneru Sreedhar and Hungary team officials inspected the head water works located at Vidhyadharapuram and water reservoir at Singh Nagar. The Hungary team inspected the water samples, chlorination and filtration process at the place and expressed their satisfaction over the VMC.
The MP said he had taken up the initiative inspired by the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu’s call for the people to give their best to the State, after bifurcation. He expressed confidence that his initiative would end the drinking water woes of the people in the city.
The BWW chief executive officer, Geza Sorneyei, thanked the MP for inviting them to be partners in improving the water works in the city. He said that they would first make a detailed study of the existing drinking water system in the city and would then propose alternatives to improve the water supply.
The BWW international director Bencze Tamas, Hungarian Consulate senior commercial counselor, Pakozdy Zsolt, Global Business Inroads managing director, Leena Pische Thomas, were also present during the initial interactions. Deputy Mayor Gogula Venkata Ramana Rao, corporator G Hari Babu, and VMC chief engineer MA Shukur, co-opted member Chennupati Usha Rani and other officials accompanied the Hungary team during the inspections.
