The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Vijaya Bank, Kishore Sansi informed that the bank will focus on the capital region and other smart cities in Andhra Pradesh. The MD was in the city on Tuesday to inaugurate the Regional Office of the Vijaya Bank at Dhoom Complex, Bank Colony.

Talking to the news men here, Kishore Sansi informed that the total business of the bank stood at Rs 2, 10, 000 crore by the second quarter ending September 2015. In Vijayawada region the total business was close to Rs 6,000 crore with a network of 54 branches spread over eight districts while in Andhra Pradesh it was about Rs 8,000 crore. He said that the bank recorded over 30 per cent growth in operating profit by the end of first half of this fiscal year at Rs 399 crore.

The CEO also said that special emphasis was laid by the bank in providing loans for the MSME, Agriculture and retail sectors. He said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the bank to provide more funds for agriculture and industrial development in the State, during a meet held few days ago. Plans were also under consideration to open another three more branches in the region to cater the needs of the customers, he said.

Vijaya Bank, Vijayawada region assistant general manager K Satyanarayana Raju, Workmen director of the bank, Y Murali Krishna and other officials also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
