Nandyal: Rayalaseema Regional Joint Commissioner of Endowments department Bramaramba on Friday pulled up the Mahanandi temple staff for their alleged corrupt practices after conducting a surprise check of the premises.

She directed Executive Officer Sivasankar Prasad not to allow nonofficial persons inside the temple. Bramaramba questioned the EO as to why criminal cases were not registered against ‘corrupt’ staff and also why there was no free darshan in Mahanandi temple.

She said free darshan facility was being allowed from Friday. The RJC firmly told Prasad that facilities for the devotees were more important than accruing income to the temple.

When a member of the Temple Protection Committee Basavaraj complained that the temple employees were converting houses into lodges, Bramaramba stated that she would submit reports to the Endowments Commissioner on the issue.
