Home Ministry writes to both the Telugu States seeking detailed report on contentious issues
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States will find an ‘amicable’ solution on the division of assets and employees, for which the two State governments locked horns post bifurcation, before February next year.
Speeding up the process, the Sub Committee, headed by Union Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary (Centre-State division) Alok Kumar, wrote a letter to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments asking to submit a detailed report on every contentious issue pending between the two States.
The two governments received an official communication from the committee to submit reports on bifurcation of assets and liabilities, employee allocation, formation of separate cooperative units in both States and representation of both States in the board of directors of corporate bodies and institutions.
The official sources said the committee, after holding a meeting with the representatives of AP and TS recently in New Delhi, finalised the agenda to sort out every issue pending before the Centre with regard to the implementation of AP Reorganisation Act ensuring justice and equitable distribution of assets between the two States.
Sources said the two State governments already alerted every concerned department and asked to submit a report on the progress in the division of assets and liabilities. The officials of the Telangana government said the heads of the departments had been asked to compile reports before January 12. The committee will hold its first meeting in the third week of January, which will be attended by the officials of Finance and other concerned departments from both States.
The bifurcation of assets in Industries, Higher Education, Forest, Energy departments and the division of employees at Secretariat level have been pending since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in June last year. About 40 corporate bodies including APSRTC, one of the biggest corporate entities in the united AP, and other public sector undertakings are still functioning under the authority of two States.
The division of employees has also been pending.
