Perhaps, Samuel Huntington’s nightmarish prophecy of ‘a clash of civilizations’ is about to break out. A barbaric IS has almost landed in backyards of the Western and European countries and is bent on founding an Islamic Caliphate and terrorising vulnerable countries into its fold. Islamophobic rhetoric is now on the rise in full glare.

Such is the anti-Islamic venom that a Republican candidate in US declared that no Muslim should be allowed to become the President of the US. It is indeed shocking that Arab and Muslim countries failed to realise that in the holocaust, millions of devout Muslims have been so far massacred for no fault of theirs. In fact, radical Muslims are not only the products of exploitative western diplomacies but also the progeny of fundamentalist Islamic countries. Isn’t it high time that liberal Muslim clerics warded off the diabolical designs of the IS by enlightening the misled Muslim youth with the pristine purity of Quoranic call for peace, harmony, love and service to humanity? The Muslim countries ought to realize that they are simply pawns in game of dice.
A glimpse of the sinister strategies adopted by the global powers should convince them that a divide between the Sunnis and the Shias is fratricidal to the extent of courting unchallenged consolidation of western imperialism. A super power like the US is in collusion with Sunni Militia to oppose and depose Assad ‘s regime in Syria. Russia is hell bent on perpetuating the regime of Assad and arresting Sunni Islamist expansion. Turkey is engaged in the double game of befriending Kurds in Iraq and opposing the same on its soil and is even suspected of supporting the IS indirectly. Saudi Arabia is the fund-raiser of anti-Assad’s rebels. The UK is still meddling in Iraq and joining hands with the US and France to wipe out hundreds of IS fighters. France and Germany are now in new-found friendship abetting Syrian opposition parties. Iraq is scared of Sunni minority and wants to consolidate its Shiite regime.
A disintegrated Syria with most of its population on march to seek shelter in Europe is now a bleeding target of major global powers. Islam is now in a crisis and so are its values. Let all efforts be made to regain its sanctity diluted by the genocidal fanatics and present itself as the gospel of peaceful co-existence and spiritual oneness of mankind.
