The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities are making sure that work on the extended stretch between Hitec metro station and Raidurg terminal moves fast without causing inconvenience to moving traffic.

In a recently conducted meeting, HMR, MD NVS Reddy directed design engineers of L&TMRHL to see that the metro pillars do not reduce the available road carriage way and should be located either on the central median or to the edge of the road.

The pillars are to be designed in such a way that one column in the central median portion and another column is on the edge of the road. Service roads would be provided on either side, informed HMR officials.

With the terminal coming up at Raidurg more than two lakh people working in the financial district would be benefitted. Initially, Shilparamam was the last station but after requests from the IT companies and associations, the Government gave the green signal to extend the line. Now, the train would take a left turn near Hitec city and culminate near Mindspace-Raheja at Raidurg.

The extension of the corridor would increase the cost by more than Rs 200 crore in corridor-III.

One of the biggest malls in the region is also planned by L&TMRH at Raidurg under the Transit Oriented Development (TOD). The commercial complex is planned in about one million feet but would be built only after the completion of the station.
