Visakhapatnam: A private agency launched Solar Park, the first of its kind in the country, here on Tuesday. Named Suryakiran, the park would be set up in Thatipudi, Kothavalasa and S Kota where radiation levels were said to be very high.

Representatives of Mahitha Infra Private Limited, the promoters of the company, told reporters that they were aiming at generating 50 MW of power through solar energy available in the area for over 300 days in a year.
Each park will be set up in an area of 30 acres to 50 acres spread over the three places-S Kota, Nothavalasa and Thatipudi. Plots measuring 300 square yards would be sold to the public and the individual owners can fetch quarterly income of Rs 45,000 for over 20 years by way of selling power to the APEPDCL.
Individual plot owners, who can generate 125 KW of power, can directly sign gross net metering agreement with EPDCL and would get an enhancement of four per cent per year. However, the owners cannot raise any construction in the plots for 15 years, said one of the directors of the company K Suresh.
The park will be covered with a compound wall and solar fencing with round-the-clock surveillance. It will also have a restaurant, mini theatre, children play arena, swimming pool and a net cricket ground.
“We will fix the prices of the plots after getting approval from VUDA”, said hinting that each plot cost would not be more than Rs 15 lakh. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao formally launched the Solar Park.
