Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu appealed to people to adopt their villages or wards to develop them by participating in Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme scheduled to commence from January 2.

Extending New Year greetings to people of the State and those living abroad, the Chief Minister said the smart village and smart ward concept were aimed at developing villages and providing all facilities in rural areas.

He said that those who adopted their villages would be introduced to people in gram sabhas and they would explain their plans to develop the villages. He said it is the responsibility of every person to extend cooperation for the development of their villages.

The Chief Minister said that 12.5 lakh ration cards would be distributed during the Janmabhoomi programme and CC roads would be developed at a stretch of 5,000 km in rural areas.

He said that priority would be given to welfare of people in the State and several development works would be taken up with the cooperation of Central government.
