Nizamabad: District Collector Yogita Rana on Tuesday directed the Tahsildars to receive application forms for double- bedroom houses from the beneficiaries till January 18.

Addressing a review meeting with the MPDOs, Tahsildars, APOs, Assistant Engineers of the Rural Water Supply Department and officials of the mandal level through a video conference from the Collectorate in the town, the District Collector said that a total of 7, 315 houses were sanctioned for the district.

The District Collector said that themandal level officials should explain to the local people’s representatives about the GOs on the double bedroom houses issued by the State government and village level meetings should be held on January, 11, 18 and February 1 in this regard.

Rana said that the government should send a specialpro-forma by January 8 to identify the eligible candidates for double-bedroom houses and take the applications forms even if they were written on white papers and their Aadhaar card numbers should also be specified.

She said that those who have already been sanctioned houses under the Indiramma or any other government housing scheme cannot apply again for the double bedroom houses. Rana said that village level meetings would be held in all gramsabhas in the district on February 1 and in these meetings, the officials should disclose the total number of applicants and those that were accepted and rejected.

The District Collector said that the officials should spell out the reasons for rejecting the application in the meeting. She said that the houses would be allotted through the lottery system or draw and some percentage of houses would also be sanctioned to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and the Minority communities according to some guidelines which would be fixed later.

On the occasion, the District Collector lauded the efforts of the MPDOs who were providing works under MGNREGS schemes in the rural areas. She told them that the NREGS works should start in the forest regions. If the MPDO’s face any problems, they should consult her, she added.

Joint Collector Ravinder Reddy said that the Tahsildars should surrender the pooled lands to the Assistant Engineers of the Housing Department for the construction of double bedroom houses. The Joint Collector directed the district officials to form committees to tide over the water scarcity in the coming Summer under the supervision of MPDOs, Tahsildars, AEs of the RWS.

Special officers should be made members in these committees. The Zilla Parishad CEO Mohanlal, DRDA PD Venkatesham, Housing PD Chaitanya Kumar, DPO Krishna Murthy, Animal Husbandry Project Director, Yellanna and other officials were present.
