UK team attends workshop on fashion designing
A 10-member team from the United Kingdom’s Kelvin College arrived here on Tuesday for a five-day exchange programme to participate in the workshop on textile techniques and Indian traditional embroidery. As part of the inter-country and inter-college exchange programme.
Guntur: A 10-member team from the United Kingdom’s Kelvin College arrived here on Tuesday for a five-day exchange programme to participate in the workshop on textile techniques and Indian traditional embroidery. As part of the inter-country and inter-college exchange programme, the Kelvin College and the Government Polytechnic for Women have agreed upon to forge strong ties to share knowledge in the related areas.
The 10-member team headed by Alastair Anderson McGhee, director of Glasgow Kelvin College, is the second team to visit the polytechnic college after a three-member committee from the same college paid a visit some time ago. Speaking to press persons Alastair Anderson said the Paisley pattern of the garment has its origins in India and Scotland. The said pattern is the theme of the garment design project, which is part of a UKIERI-AICTE funded project, to promote learning cooperation and skills exchange between the two fashion colleges.
He stated that the programme has proved to be successful and the staff and students of Glasgow Kelvin College are visiting the polytechnic for the second time. A team from the polytechnic college would also visit Kelvin College in a fortnight. Alastair said that to celebrate the partnership a fashion show would be held in the town of Paisley on January 22 to showcase the achievements of partnership between the two colleges.
