Thousands of devotees visited Kanakadurga Temple atop Indrakeeladri and worshipped the presiding deity Goddess Durga on Monday as Sakambari Devi. The deity appeared to the devotees as Sakambari Devi, an annual avatar of the Goddess during the season. The temple priests decorated the deity with vegetables and flowers, as an offering of thanks giving to the Goddess for giving food to the world. The devotees show gratitude to the deity for being so kind and giving them food and not subjecting them to starvation.

Besides decorating the deity, the officials have also decorated the temple premises with vegetables and fruits giving a new look to the sanctum sanatorium. This three-day festival is an annual feature atop Indrakeeladri with the devotees offering vegetables and fruits for decoration. The three-day festival also marks Chandi Homam and recital of Vedas by the priests.
