While speaking in the District Tourism Council meeting at the collectorate here on Thursday, the Collector said that tourism projects worth 70 crore are in progress in this district under Swades Darshan Programme with the help of central funds. Out of the sanctioned amount of Rs 4.50 crore by the AP Tourism Authority, Rs 1.50 crore each would be spent on Odalarevu and Chintlamori beaches, and Rs 1 crore would be spent on the Antarvedi beach.

In this connection, he directed the tourism department officials to construct changing rooms at Godavari confluence area and at Antarvedi beach. He further instructed the officials to provide drinking water through an RO plant and construct shelters for the tourists. The Collector further directed the officials to prepare proposals for promoting and providing better facilities for tourist.

The Collector suggested the Project Officer, ITDA Rampachodavaram to train the tribal youth with cooking, catering and housekeeping, thus making them useful in the tourism field. A wooden bridge across the Rampa water fall was found necessary. He further suggested the officials to construct a compound wall around the ancient Siva Temple at Rampa. Collector also directed the PO, ITDA to examine the proposals for coffee and pine groves at Maredumilli.

He also suggested for the establishment of an interpretation centre at Jungle Star and a new road to Corangi wild life sanctuary. Collector further instructed the officials to prepare a DPR for tourism promotion activities at Hope Island to make it as a tourist attraction place, as it possesses abundant natural resources he added.

3 Day Beach Festival at Kakinada :
Necessary preparations are to be made for the 2017 Kakinada beach festival said the Collector while reviewing the arrangements for beach festival. This beach festival is going to be held during the third week of December, in which famous music composer AR Rehman is likely to perform. He instructed the tourism officials to make necessary parking arrangements in coordination with police authorities for this festival to avoid traffic problems.

Organising of laser shows, carnival , sports for the youth is to be included in this beach festival. Joint Collector A Mallikarjuna, PO ITDA Dinesh Kumar, Regional Director, Tourism department Bhima Sankaram, Executive Engineer Srinivasa Rao and others participated.
