Kakinada: Three members of the banned Maoist group surrendered before the District Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni here on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at the district police office, the SP disclosed the details of the surrendered Maoists. The SP said that two Maoist group members Madivi Jogayya alias Roshan and his wife who is also a member of the group Kaluma Pojji alias Radha capitulated here. Gunni further said that both the wife and husband worked as the guards for Chandranna. He also informed that these two belong to Gasampadu village of Sukuma district and Yetapaka village of East Godavari district.

Gunni also informed that the couple participated in different Maoist activities since 2011. Both of them also participated in Vimpa Camp attack in 2012. While another activist Sunnam Nagesh of Gangileru village worked as a courier to the Maoist LOS Prakash and has been supplying jaggery, groceries, oil, electric wires, other electric utensils and red banner clothes to Maoists since 2014. All the three were vexed with the activities of the group and decided to join the mainstream.

SP Gunni appreciated the efforts of Chinturu OSD Anbu Rajan, Chinturu SDPO and the 39th battalion of the CRPF.
