Bhimavaram: All India Postal Employees Union Group-C Vijayawada Regional Circle Secretary DASR Prasad said that the postal employees would stage dharnas in front of Chief Postmaster General offices all over the country in protest against the decision of Centre to privatise the postal department.

He addressed the Postal Employees Trade Union training classes held here on Sunday. Circle President Mohan Rao presided over the classes.

Speaking on the occasion, Regional Circle Secretary Prasad said, “The employees need to call for an agitation again. Due to the decisions of the Government to privatise the Government institutions, power is minimised and employees would lose job-security.

He demanded that the Government implement the five-day work in a week to the postal department and asked for the implementation of the Kamalesh Chandra Committee recommendations on the wages of GDS employees. He said that the Union would conduct a protest in Taluka level on January 9 and on February 10 in district headquarters. Later, they would submit their grievances to the MPs and MLAs.

Union leaders Ch Lenin Babu, P Bhaskar Rao, A Venkata Krishnaiah, N Nageswara Rao, TVK Somayajulu N Prakasham and others addressed the meeting. The employees felicitated Bhimavaram division Senior Superintendent of Post offices D Ramanaiah on the occasion.
