Savitribai Phule remembered

Mangalagiri: MLA Alla Rama Krishna Reddy paid tributes to Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary at the YSRCP office in Mangalagiri on Wednesday.

The MLA garlanded her portrait and paid rich tributes to her. Speaking on this occasion, he recollected how the latter strove hard to improve conditions of women and added that she was the first woman teacher in the country. He urged the party leaders to draw inspiration from her. Stating that she fought for women’s rights, he urged people to follow her footsteps.

The MLA said that she started the first school for the Bahujans and took the initiative for midday meals in schools to encourage poor students to study in schools. Local YSRCP leaders also participated in the commemoration.
