Vijayawada: The chemistry department of PB Siddhartha Arts and Science College organised a national seminar on the topic ‘Sustainable Environment using New Chemical Methods’ on the college premises on Thursday, to mark World Water Day.

AP Pollution Control Board chairman BSS Prasad was the chief guest of the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that sustainable environment was possible with chemistry.

Chief environmental engineer Dr B Madhusudhana Rao said without controlling the use of plastic, sustainable environment was not possible, and minimising the use of plastic was the responsibility of everyone.

IICT Hyderabad principal secretary Dr S Chandrashekar was the speaker of the technical session. He said pollution can be controlled by producing electricity through solar panels and briefed about the chemical elements used in solar panels.

IICT Hyderabad senior scientist Dr Rajesh said, “The responsibility to safeguard the environment lies with us and if we harm the environment the effect will be on human survival and the future generation.”Lecturers from various colleges presented their research papers and students participated in poster presentation.

College dean Rajesh C Jampa, director V Babu Rao, organising secretary Dr Manoranjani, Siddhartha pharmaceutical sciences principal G D Rao were present.
