Kakinada: The appointment of Vedic scholar and spiritual guru Chaganti Koteswara Rao as cultural advisor to the State government was hailed by people of the port town, as it was the place where he started delivering religious discourses two decades ago.

“He is a right choice for the post. There is an every need to protect the fast eroding social values in the society through propagation of family values and ethics,” said a fan of Chaganti.

Manager in Food Corporation of India (FCI) by profession, Chaganti has a great following in the State for his daily discourses on epics, Upanishads and others, which are broadcast on radio and TV. Some devotional TV channels have allotted special slots for his discourses. His wife Subrahmanyeswari is an employee in the Agricultural Department. The couple has two children Shanmukhacharan and Nagasrivalli. Chaganti who, practises what he preaches on the family system, is committed to upholding social values.

He has several records to his credit for delivering religious discourses. He gave a pravacha-nam on Srimad Ramayanam in Kakinada a decade ago and completed it in 42 days. He got the distinction of completing pravachanams on Srimad Bhagavatam in 42 days, on Sivapuranam in 30 days and on Sree Lalitha Sahasranama Stotram in 45 days.
