The state of Andhra Pradesh played a key role in the formation of two successive UPA governments at the Centre by giving more MPs for the Congress party in the elections. However it seems now with the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh just before the elections by the UPA Government, people from Seemandhra region are left with no options in this elections.
It is a known fact that the way bifurcation process was hurried left painful scars on Seemandhra which are difficult to erase. Irrespective of the party, all representatives of the region, supported bifurcation for personal gains backstabbing the people, whom they represent.
When the division talks kicked off, Seemandhra people had hoped that a few politicians will protest bifurcation or at least fight for the rights of the region. This didn't happen and upset the people a great deal by hurting their sentiments, emotions and pride.
Though many parties and leaders like Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP, TDP's Chandra Babu Naidu, Kiran Kumar Reddy's Jai Samaikyandhra and several others tried to sell themselves as staunch Samaikyandhra supporters by announcing fast unto deaths. Their threatrics also included meeting national leaders in Delhi. However, Seemandhra people are scared to believe them as they are fully aware that they have struck some dark deals and secret pacts.
While a few like Jagan is suspected to have struck a deal with the Congress party pledging support post elections, Chandra Babu Naidu already entered into pre-poll alliance with BJP which supported division. Kiran Kumar Reddy's Jai Samaikyandhra Party has no takers given that people still feel he is enacting a script under the direction of Sonia Gandhi.
Other leaders like Lagadapati Rajagopal who became popular for his pepper spray acts are said to be having business interests in Telangana and is suspected to have covertly supported division. Now, Seemandhra people are looking for alternatives to punish all these Seemandhra traitors who back-stabbed them in the division process of Andhra Pradesh. However, they are unable to find anyone who can fight for their rights and now left with the same political parties or leaders who deceived them by selling the stakes of the region for personal gains.
Now, the question is how can Seemandhra people who are burning with rage over Andhra Pradesh division, punish their back-stabbers and traitors. With no alternatives left, it will be interesting to see who the Seemandhra people will vote for in the coming elections.
