Visakhapatnam: District Judge Justice V Jaya Surya emphasised the need for a corruption-free society and called upon the people to strive for it as it will be a real tribute to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

At a programme organised by the District Legal Service Authority here on Saturday on the District Court Complex to observe the 69th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Justice Jaya Surya garlanded the portrait of Gandhi and paid tributes.

Later, the Justice, along with Metropolitan Sessions Judge Justice Nandivada Narasimha Rao, DLSA Secretary Justice RV Naaga Sundar, other Judges, Bar members and advocates observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the national leader.

Later, Justice Jaya Surya told reporters that the modern Video Link Room with all latest facilities was being established with a cost of Rs 28 lakh at the District Court to have a direct access with all prisons, along with the local Central Prison. Very soon, it will come into existence and with this facility, the inmates can talk to the Judge directly, he added.

Justice Jaya Surya inaugurated a free mega medical camp organised jointly by Kala Hospital and Judiciary Employees’ Union as part of their social activity.
