The 80-year-old Andhra Ratna Bhavan of the Congress party is going to get a face lift, as the party leaders are planning to make it party headquarters of truncated Andhra Pradesh.  After inspecting the renovation works here on Sunday, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said the renovated building would be opened by AICC observer Tirunavukkarasu on February 19. 

Vijayawada: The 80-year-old Andhra Ratna Bhavan of the Congress party is going to get a face lift, as the party leaders are planning to make it party headquarters of truncated Andhra Pradesh. After inspecting the renovation works here on Sunday, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said the renovated building would be opened by AICC observer Tirunavukkarasu on February 19.

He said that the party activities would be carried out from Andhra Ratna Bhavan. The heritage structure had been neglected for several years, and the ground floor was remained closed for several decades. The party leadership has now improved facilities in all rooms in the ground floor as it going to emerge as party head quarters.

Congress leaders expressed happiness over the renovation of the historic building. The building was witness to several high profile leaders including Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle, and was named after the then party secretary Duggirala Gopalakrishnaiah.
