Ananda Gajapathi Raju is elder brother of Union Minister P Ashoka Gajapathi Raju Ananda Gajapathi Raju won the hearts of the public for his preference to live like a normal man.

He was the chairman of Maharaja Alak Narayan Society for Arts and Science (MANSAS) that has many colleges and schoolsunder its ambit. He was elected as MP from Bobbili constituency from Congress party ticket and also served as Minister for Education in NT Rama Rao’s cabinet.

Raju was born on July 1, 1950 in Madras. He was the eldest son of Maharaja Pusapati Vijayarama Gajapathi Raju, alias PVG Raju (15th and last Maharaja of Vizianagram). He succeeded his father as head of house on November 14, 1995 after demise of PVG. He studied at Scindia School, Gwalior, Loyola College, Madras, Andhra University and Stetson University, Florida, USA. He is well known to the public as scholar and academician, who loves to spend time with books and literature.
