Call to set up agro-based industries

Amaravati: Minister for Agriculture Prathipati Pulla Rao on Saturday urged the entrepreneurs to set up agro-based industries to get value addition to the farmers.
He assured that the government was ready to provide necessary infrastructure and allot lands to set up agro-based industries to develop the state. He addressed a meeting held under the aegis of Guntur Textile Park Limited at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the farmers in Guntur district were producing cotton, chilli and tobacco. There was bright future for textile units in the district because spinning and ginning units were set up in the district. He reminded that the government had already set up single window system to give permission to set up industries. He reminded that the Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, had released power subsidy dues to the textiles units though state was facing severe financial crisis and urged the entrepreneurs to come up with proposals to set up industries.
Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said that he would try to solve problems of the spinning and ginning mills. He said there was bright future for textile units in the district because cotton was being produced in the district.
AP Spinning Mills Association former president G Punnaiah Chowdary said that at present kg cotton was being sold at Rs 50. If it was shaped into readymade garments, a kg would be sold at Rs 1,000. The farmers would also get value addition. He said there was bright future for readymade units in the district.
Industrialist Chukkapalli Ramesh, Kallam Spinning Mills joint managing director GV Krishna Reddy and Association of Lady Entrepreneurs AP president Ramadevi were among those participated.
