Visakhapatnam: Hours before Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu left for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the special status issue and drought situation in the state,

AP BJP leader and MLC Somu Veerraju questioned the wisdom of the AP government to construct ultramodern capital city on the lines of Singapore.

Talking to media at Visakhapatnam, Veerraju demanded that the government issue a White Paper on the funds that were given by the Centre to the state and how much it had spent.

He alleged that the state government had spent only Rs 225 crore on the capital city so far.Veerraju said it was not correct on the part of AP to seek thousands of crores for the construction of capital city.

He said Andhra Pradesh is not the only state that was divided and in the past no state had made such demands. The BJP, he said, has been very generous towards Andhra Pradesh and has been treating it as a special state.

The day foundation stone for new capital was laid, the Prime Minister announced Rs 2500 crore.
