Engineering student’s body found
Yalamanchili police found a body of a 23-year-old engineering student in River Vasistha at Chinchinada village in Yalamanchili Mandal on Tuesday. According to the police, Pothurajula Vamsi (23) of Hanuman Colony in Palacole town was studying in second year engineering at RITES College in Rajahmundry by staying in the college hostel. He was missing from the hostel since May 10.

According to the police, Pothurajula Vamsi (23) of Hanuman Colony in Palacole town was studying in second year engineering at RITES College in Rajahmundry by staying in the college hostel. He was missing from the hostel since May 10.
Loss in cricket betting forced him to end life
His parents complained to Rajanagaram Police about his missing. The Rajanagaram Police registered a case on May 13. The police stated that the victim, Vamsi, was addicted to cricket betting and indebted to some people. He had a girlfriend. On May 10, Vamsi messaged to his girlfriend: “I did not do justice to my parents and cheated them. I am vexed and committing suicide”.
Knowing about this SMS, the police, friends and relatives of Vamsi started a search for his body in River Godavari in and around Rajahmundry. The Yalamanchili police received a call from Chinchinada that an unknown body was found in Vasistha river. The police rushed to the spot and fished out the body from the river.
After enquiry, they confirmed that the body is of Vamsi. It was in a decomposed stage. Mallavarapu David Raju, a friend of Vamsi, informed Yugandharudu, the father of the victim, about the body. The parents immediately reached to Chinchinada and identified the body. The body was sent to postmortem to Palacole Government Hospital. Yalamanchili Sub-Inspector J Apparao is investigating the case.
