The new administrative block was constructed to accommodate 100 officers and over 400 RTC staff who will be shifted from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. After the bifurcation of State, the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) decided to shift its State administrative office from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and constructed spacious state-of-art administrative block in 50,000 square feet area in the second floor of the arrival block.
Ten departments-operations, mechanical, information technology, accounts, stores, legal cell, civil engineering, vigilance and enforcement, marketing and commercial, statistics and personal departments will be shifted to Vijayawada. Construction work of these departments completed and decorative works are underway.
The administrative office contains over 400 work stations with computer tables, chairs, racks and other facilities. Nearly 100 officers will have cabins in the mega administrative block. Hundreds of construction workers, carpenters and electricians were drafted for the last two months to complete the administrative block works before June 6.
A senior officer working in the APSRTC in Vijayawada said the administrative office was scientifically designed to cater to the needs of the officials and staff and it will empower the employees. The vice-chairman and Managing director of the APSRTC N Sambasiva Rao has been personally inspecting the ongoing works and trying to complete the ongoing works as per the schedule.
Besides, executive directors are also supervising the works. The higher officials are allocating the cabins to different departments so that all important departments get facilities to work. The administrative office has been christened as NTR Administrative block since late NT Rama Rao had taken initiative for construction of the Pandit Nehru bus station 25 years ago.
Sufficient parking facility is available for the parking of vehicles. Hundreds of ornamental plants were arranged in the PNBS premises to enhance the greenery and beauty of the bus complex. The RTC higher officials decided to arrange eight special buses on Sunday to shift the staff from Hyderabad to Vijayawada to work two days at the new administrative office in Vijayawada.
