Amaravati: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), an agency appointed by the railways, will conduct survey and feasibility study to lay new railway line to Amaravati soon. Officials from RVNL met the higher officials of the State government and asked to details of Amaravati Master Plan.

Based on that they will start survey and feasibility study. On completion of their survey, they will submit report before March 31, 2017.
The RVNL will conduct survey on where to lay railway track for new railway line. It will give marking to acquire land for laying railway line and submit details of the land to the railway board.

Based on the report submitted by the agency, the railways will ask the State government to acquire land for laying a new railway line to Amaravati. The State government will acquire land and hand it over to the railways. Subsequently, Union Ministry of Railways will take further steps to lay the new railway line.

South Central Railway chief public relations officer M Umashankar said, “RVNL representatives met the State government officials on May 31 and requested them to submit details of Amaravati Master Plan for conducting a survey to lay railway line to Amaravati. As soon as they get Master Plan details, they will start the survey.

After getting feasibility study report, railways will take further steps to lay railway line to Amaravati.” Guntur railway division operations manager ANL Reddy has already submitted his recommendations to the CRDA to lay new railway line. In a report submitted to the CRDA, he said there is need to lay a separate railway line from Vijayawada to Amaravati and construct another bridge across River Krishna.

He also said, “If a separate railway station is constructed near Amaravati, it will reduce passengers rush in Guntur and Vijayawada railway stations. There is no sufficient place in Vijayawada and Guntur railway stations to construct some more platforms. Trains coming from Secunderabad and Hyderabad to Guntur city will be diverted to Amaravati new railway station from Pedakurapadu.”

MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao said, “Union Minister Suresh Prabhu’s nomination to Rajya Sabha would be useful to get more projects to AP including railway line to Amaravati, separate railway zone to AP. He will take responsibility to get feasibility study report as early as possible for Amaravati railway line and sanction funds to construct a railway station near the State capital Amaravati.”

It may be mentioned that Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada and extended his cooperation for development of railways including new railway line to Amaravati and separate railway zone to AP.
