The Sunshine bus which was thus formed will give a world class facilities for school students, who on average spend 4000 hours of their life in it,” said senior vice president of Global buses, Ashok Leyland Limited T Venkataraman.

During the launch of the school bus, Venkataraman said that the bus is an outcome of severe research from cross sections of the society and that of its stake holders. The bus is built to enable students have safest ride possible besides built in technology to tackle speed and reduced effects of any accident.

It is designed to protect the driver and co-driver with unique feature called frontal crash protection and prevents wheel locking during adverse conditions. It gives a great mileage and reduces the maintenance costs.

Large worldview windows, lowest fixed step entry, smooth ride with seat belts, seat grab handles, tooth guard behind seats. Another important factor is anti bacterial interiors and rollover compliant design. The bus is equipped with door open alarm, electronic speed limiter, anti skid flooring, hat rack, fire extinguisher and roof grab rail besides being fire retardant interiors, added he.

Managing Director of Ashok Leyland Limited, Vinod K Dasari said that Sunshine project is a very special one to us which will set new benchmarks in school transport sector. School going in these buses is stress free, which is otherwise a concern. It is shaped by technology, expertise on par global standards. About 24 customers were hand over the keys of the new bus that is available in two variants at a midpoint price of Rs 16.8 lakh.
