The visiting Nepal team led by Chief Secretary of Nepal government Dr Somlal Subedi was impressed with the facilities available at the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. The team visited the port on Friday and interacted with port chairman M T Krishnababu and other officials.
Visakhapatnam: The visiting Nepal team led by Chief Secretary of Nepal government Dr Somlal Subedi was impressed with the facilities available at the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. The team visited the port on Friday and interacted with port chairman M T Krishnababu and other officials.
The officials explained the facilities and infrastructure of Visakhapatnam port and invited the Nepal government to make use of the facilities available and to trade with India through Visakhapatnam port.An interaction with various stakeholders had been organised to know the feasibility of doing business between both the countries.

A detailed interaction took place among stakeholders CONCOR, shipping liners, CFS handling agents and other agencies by the Nepal trade delegation and the Nepal team had expressed their possibility to see that the cargo would be routed through Visakhapatnam port and requested CONCOR and shipping liners to examine the areas of constraints such as freight charges, deployment of rakes, intermediaries and the logistics and expressed their confidence that they would do better business in the days ahead if the constrains are removed.
CONCOR and shipping liners have stated that they would examine the constraint issues of Nepal and would look forward for ease of doing business by doing their best to the extent possible, taking into account the procedural rules and regulations.
Somlal Subedi expressed his happiness that facilitating transport of Exim cargo through Visakhapatnam port is a historic milestone and this would strengthen the trade relations between both the countries and appreciated port chairman for the efforts taken in identifying Visakhapatnam port to be the second gateway Port for Exim Cargo of Nepal. He also stated that a trade meet in Nepal would be considered for better understanding between exporters and importers of India and Nepal.
