Sarkar decries anti-worker policies
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar came down heavily on the Centre and State governments alleging that they failed to fulfill the pre-poll promises and accused them of implementing anti-worker and anti-people polices.

He addressed a public meeting organised by Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) to mark the beginning of 15th CITU State general body meeting at BRTS Road, here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Narendra Modi assured the people that two crore jobs would be created in the country, if the BJP was voted to power but ignored the promise.
“As many as one crore unemployed youth are added to the list of unemployed in the country. 20 crore youth have no jobs. The Central government was not releasing job notification even though lakhs of posts were vacant,” he alleged.
Referring to Central government’s policies, Manik Sarkar said the Modi government was trying to divide the people on the lines of religion and expressed concern over the increasing attacks on the minorities. “As many as 1,000 attacks were made on Muslims
in two years of BJP rule,” he said and expressed concern over the threat posed to the integrity of the country.
Tripura Chief Minister said that farmers were committing suicides in the country, due to the anti-farmer and anti-people policies. “There is no difference in the policies of the Modi government and Chandrababu Naidu government. The CITU will continue its fight against the anti-people’s policies,” he vowed. Manik Sarkar expressed concern over the increasing FDI in the defence and stated that it would be a threat to the security of the country.
CITU national president A K Padmanabhan informed that Central government employees would go on nation-wide strike on September 2 in protest against the anti-people and anti-worker policies, if the Central government did not concede to the demands of the trade unions.
“Anger is mounting among the working class, peasants and all sections of the society against the price rise and oppressive policies of the State and Central governments,” he stated.
