Srikakulam: Self Help Groups (SHG) women are getting reasonable demand and better price for their produce as they are doing online marketing by adopting changes in marketing field. SHG women are making different kinds of sweets, pickles and home needs like bags, tubs and jute fiber chairs.

Government is encouraging SHG women with an aim to provide financial sustainability to them in rural and urban areas. Till October 2015 SHG women were unable to get good demand and better price for their products as market facilities were less to sell the products.

After notice this lapse state government decided to open permanent Dwcra bazaars in all towns and important mandal head quarters across the state. As part of it ten Dwcra bazaars are opened in Srikakulam district on October 2, 2015 to promote sales of SHG products. But even then sales are not improved in Dwcra bazaars as tough competition prevailing in market from other different marts and online marketing agencies.

Consumers are also showing much interest in purchasing different products through online as various online marketing agencies are providing door delivery. To overcome this problem, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) officials entered into memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an online marketing agency, Speed Bazaar to provide better marketing facility to SHG products.

The MoU will be in force for one year and the agency Speed Bazaar is providing assistance to SHG women to sell their products through online. The agency is playing mediator role between SHG women groups and consumers. With the online marketing facility SHG products are getting better demand from across the nation and receiving orders from customers from various regions.

To sustain in the market new trends must be adopted as part of it we entered into a MoU with Speed Bazaar to sell products through online, said DRDA District Project Manager, R V Ramana. We started online marketing with assistance of this agency on pilot basis from Ranastalam and Narasannapeta Dwcra bazaars where we are getting reasonable demand and will extend this facility to all reaming eight Dwcra bazaars soon, said DRDA coordinator, S Rajkumar.
