Guntur: Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao said the State government would sanction loans to promote poultry and dairy industries to enhance the income of the farmers.

He participated as the chief guest at a State-level workshop organised at the veterinary college here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said 62 lakh families were depending on the poultry and dairy industries in the State and these two industries were contributing a lot for the development of the State.

He said the State government is planning to generate Rs 60,000 crore from the dairy and related industries in the year 2016-17. He informed that the contribution of dairy and related industries in the State was Rs 49,361 crore in 2015-16.

He said AP is stood in the second position in eggs production and ranked fourth in meat production in the country and efforts were on to make it number one in these two industries.

Earlier, Director of Animal Husbandry Dr Somasekhar has made power point presentation about the dairy industry in the State.
Additional Director Dr Krishnamurthy, joint directors, deputy directors and other officials attended the conference.
