Eluru: Four youths in their early twenties were arrested by One Town CI N Rajasekhar and SI Ramarao on Sunday in connection with attempt to murder case here on June 28 in which a man was injured.

Disclosing the details to the media here on Sunday, DSP G Venkateswara Rao said the accused were arrested based on a complaint filed by Turapati Nagaraju of Pinakadimi village. He said the accused were identified as Turapati Pedababu (21) of Pinakadimi village, Chodavarapu Deepak Kumaraswamy (20) of Eluru, Surampalli Rajesh (22) of Ammapalem village in Pedavegi mandal and Sheikh Irfan of Sanivarapupeta in Eluru rural mandal at Hanuman Junction.

On the day the accused injured Nagaraju, the main accused Pedababu (nephew of the victim) had a fire arm with him, which he procured from Sirigiri China Srinivasulu in New Delhi.

In the past, criminal cases were pending against Pedababu. On June 28, Pedababu had called up his four associates who had reached the spot. Pedababu had shot at Nagaraju and all the accused escaped from the spot. The injured was immediately rushed to Eluru Government Hospital and was later referred to a hospital in Vijayawada.

The DSP said while accused Deepak is the son of a government employee and studied till Intermediate, another accused Rajesh is a polytechnic diploma holder and was working in Hyderabad and Irfan is an air condition mechanic at Sanivarapupeta. The DSP said the victim Nagaraju was an accused in the killing of Bhutam Durga Rao of Pinakadimi village in Pedavegi mandal. Ever since, the rival groups have been plotting to kill Nagaraju, the DSP added.

The DSP said that another accused in the case, identified as Vamsikrishna, was still absconding and hoped that the accused would be nabbed soon. One Town CI N Rajasekhar, SI Rama Rao and others were present at the press conference.
