Nellore: District administration handed over compensation to the farmers who gave their lands for the proposed airport in Dagadarthi mandal on Wednesday.

District Collector M Janaki, who attended the programme in Dagardarthi, said the compensation money would be deposited into the bank accounts of the displaced through online. This would avoid irregularities in the distribution, she said and added process of compensation distribution would be documented through video recording and photos preventing future complications, she said.

The Collector said they had acquired 606.69 acres of patta, DKT, Co-operative Joint Farming Societies (CJFS) and government lands for the airport from the local people.

She informed that 336.32 acres of patta lands, 104.92 acres of DKT lands, 129.46 acres of CJFS lands, 25.41 acres of overnment lands and 10.58 acres of Poramboku lands were acquired so far.

In KK Gunta, farmers from various villages have voluntarily handing over 74 acres of CJFS lands, she said and added that they would bring to the notice of the State government and take a decision on the issue.

The Collector handed over Rs 37.31 lakh to D Malakondaiah, who handed over 2.87 acres to the government, during the
programme.

ZPTC member K Lalithamma, Joint Collector A Md Imtiyaz, in-charge DRO Markandeyulu, Kavali RDO Lakshminarasimham, senior bank and government officials were also present.
