At a programme held here on Tuesday, District Collector H Arun Kumar distributed two sets of new uniform, school bags, notebooks along with usual monthly distribution of nutritive kits to the children of ‘Chiru Deepam. 

Rajamahendravaram: Employees of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Gadimoga, East Godavari District have come together to support HIV-affected children under an initiative called ‘Chiru Deepam’. They were contributing their mite to provide nutrition kits and other support to 100 children every month since 2008.

At a programme held here on Tuesday, District Collector H Arun Kumar distributed two sets of new uniform, school bags, notebooks along with usual monthly distribution of nutritive kits to the children of ‘Chiru Deepam.

Under ‘Chiru Deepam,’ employees of Reliance and some other philanthropists adopted one HIV-infected child and providing nutritive kits every month. The nutritive kits to these children numbering 100 were being distributed every month at Vetlapalem and Kakinada since 2008.

The District Collector appreciated the RIL employees for the gesture and noble cause in supporting HIV children and stated that this was a unique scheme.

While addressing the children and parents, he said that the State government was also implementing many welfare schemes for the poor and the disabled. District Public Relation Officer M Francis also attended the meeting and distributed kits to children
and appreciated RIL employees.

N Ravichandran, head-support services, NV Ramana Murthy, Sr Lead-CSR, RIL, Lakkaraju Seshu Kumari, Vakkalanka Rama Krishna, (Parivarthana) and SP Reddy (Uma Manovikasa Kendram) were present.Team members P Subrahmanyam and S Ramana Rao coordinated the event.
