Several centres are running with one or two employees leading to delay in providing online payment services, defeating the purpose of setting up of these centres.
There are four centres in Chittoor, five in Tirupati, two in Madanapalle and one each in Palamaner and Punganur towns. With the establishment of AP online centres in rural areas across the district, the income of the Mee Seva centres has dented as customers making payments at AP online.
Employee count has been reduced from 12 to 2 at Mee Seva centre located in A S Manohar Complex in Chittoor. It has become daunting task for two-member staff to provide 142 online services.

Majority centres were confined to services related to the Revenue department and municipalities. To provide speedy and hassle-free services to people, Chandrababu Naidu, who was the Chief Minister in 2002, had introduced online payment services.
There was overwhelming response towards these centres from people. Over the years, maintenance of Mee Seva centres was handed over to private agencies. Managements of private agencies were paying meagre salaries for staff.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Saturday, Venkateswarlu, who is working as a manager at Mee Seva centre near RTC bus stand, said that the income of his centre has reduced drastically.
He stated that representations were given to officials concerned to hike salaries of staff working in Mee Seva centres.
Several employees have resigned to their jobs at these centres as they were paid meagre salaries, he added. Now, Mee Seva centres were on the verge of closure, he said.
