Visakhapatnam: Police arrested 86 persons, including leaders of various political parties for organising rail-roko demanding a separate
railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters, here on Wednesday. Tension prevailed at Pendurthi area in Vizag city when the leaders
and activists stopped Rayagada-Vijayawada passenger train at two places for over 10 minutes.

Inspector of Government Railway Police Station (Vizag) S Lakshmana Murthy said that they arrested 86 persons, including leaders of
YSRCP, CPM and CPI parties under Section 147 of Indian Railway Act, as the protestors attempted to block the trains at two places.

The agitators Gudiwada Amarnath, district president of YSRCP, JV Satyanarayana Murthy of CPI said that separate railway zone with
Vizag as the headquarters has been long pending demand in the region, but Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu proposing the railway
zone headquarters in Vijayawada.
