Tirupati: Zero-Based Natural Farming (ZBNF) is the only way to bail out the farmer of Andhra Pradesh from the present crisis they are facing, said natural farming protagonist Padmasri Subash Palekar. Thanks Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for trying to extend natural farming in the entire State to save from crisis.

Speaking to media after the successful completion of 4-day training programme on ZBNF in which 5,700 farmers from various mandals took part, here on Thursday, Palekar asserted that extending natural farming will end water shortage which is severe in Rayalaseema and North East Andhra Pradesh districts and also the decline in soil fertility and yield.

If the ZBNF is promoted vigorously covering the entire 75 lakh hectares under irrigation in the State, the farmers could save about Rs 35,000 crore by totally avoiding spending money on chemicals and pesticides, 90 per cent of electricity and water he said observing that `ZBNF’ is the panacea to cure all the ills of the present day agriculture.

Further, he said that by adopting ZBNF, farmer can overcome drought which was amply proved by the farmers in Marathwada region of Maharashtra and also in cyclone-prone AP. Thanking Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for promoting ZBNF in the State, he said he is first CM to extend ZBNF in the entire State.
