District Congress Committee chief to go on fast over Special Category Status

Rajamahendravaram: East Godavari District Congress Committee president and former MLC Kandula Durgesh on Thursday announced that he would go on fast on Saturday in protest against Centre’s stand of denying Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference here, he said that Saturday is his birthday and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. He decided not to celebrate birthday this year and take up fasting at Kotagummam centre.

He asked his followers and all the Congress workers to bring two postcards each on that day to Kotagummam to write to Prime Minister and also to Chief Minister, expressing protest against denial of the SCS. He informed that the fasting would begin at 9 am and continue till 5 pm.
