30 medical teams to tour villages
The Collector called for an emergency meeting with district medical and health officers, panchayat, District Water Management Agency (DWMA), District Rural Development Agencies (DRDA) and educational officers on public health at the Collectorate here on Tuesday.He reviewed the situation raised following the outbreak of vector-borne diseases in rural and Agency areas.
Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar said that 30 medical teams were established to control vector-borne diseases like malaria, typhoid etc in the district. He said that these teams will tour various villages affected by viral fevers and take steps to create awareness among the people on cleanliness of surroundings besides extending medical treatment to the victims.

Speaking at the meeting, the Collector said that all department officials including medical and health have to bring awareness among public on vector-borne diseases. The officials should take action to control the spread of malaria, dengue, chikungunya, diarrhea, typhoid and swine flu-like vector-borne diseases in the rural masses,” he said.
The Collector said that to control the spread of vector-borne diseases, the officials will conduct special immunisation and sanitation programmes for five days in the district. Already 10 special mobile teams have been established in towns and another 20 teams for rural areas will be appointed, he added.
The Collector called on the medical officers to take control these vector-borne diseases in the basic stage and directed officials to equip mobile vehicles with blood, water-test kits, needy medicines for treatment besides controlling mosquitoes, oil balls, sprayers, engine oil and other paramedical staff.
These teams will tour in the field level. Whenever these teams receive information of ailments they will visit the village and treat the patients,” Collector said.
The Collector directed medical and health officer K Koteswari to collect details of dengue, malaria, typhoid and chikungunya suspect cases admitted in the private hospitals. He said that a toll-free number will be set up at special medical assistance centres in government hospitals including Eluru government headquarters hospital in the district.
