Speaking to The Hans India,    The Chennai Silks  director  Armugam  said that The Chennai Silks was established in 1962 with a small venture in Chennai. There are 15  Chennai Silk branches in Tamil Nadu and one in Kerala.  “We are proud of establishing  17th branch here which is the first one in Andhra Pradesh,” he added. 

Chittoor: The 17th branch of The Chennai Silks was opened here on Friday. Zilla Parishad chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash, TDP district president G Srinivasulu and other leaders attended the inaugural function.

He said that The Chennai Silks also established Sri Kumaran Thangamaligai Jewellery Mart in The Chennai which is the biggest in Asian continent. Another director Nanda Gopal said that The Chennai Silks has sold a unique saree for Rs 40 lakh as a replica of Raja Ravi Varma art and achieved the place in the Guinness and Limca Book of Records.

A large number of Tamilians reside in Chittoor district, who would patronise our new outlet, which has already given employment for many Tamil youth, he said. General Manager D Ananda Kumar, public relations officer Chandra and others were present.
