YSR Congress party President and leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday addressed a gathering of farmers who staged a Maha Dharna at Anantapur to highlight the plight of the farmers.

Reacting strongly against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over his negligent attitude towards the drought situation in the state, YS Jagan stated that the Chief Minister is busy enjoying helicopter rides while people are dying of drought and crop losses.

The YSRCP Chief mentioned that over 17.52 lakh acres crops were lost due to drought yet Chandrababu was claiming the district has not been hit with drought and added that the rainguns used for wetting the lands in Anantapur were not sufficeable to make the farm lands cultivable.

Demanding immediate relief for the farmers, he also pointed out Chandrababu's promise of releasing water into Handri Neeva and his assurance to re-green Rayalaseema with water from Pattiseema project but neither has been done.
